Marblehead High School Update – 11/19/2017

Grade 9 Study Skills Workshop – Tuesday December 12th, 7-8pm.  MHS Library
All grade 9 students (Class of 2021) are invited to the annual Freshman Study Skills Workshop.  This year parents and students are invited to attend; students will work with student peer mentors who will facilitate group discussions about how to prepare for mid-term exams, and learn coping skills to relieve stress and anxiety. Parents will attend a meeting with staff to review the same information so that you can be helpful and supportive to your students during this time. This workshop is sponsored by the student peer mentor program.  Adult facilitators, Gina Hart, Social Worker; Sarah McCabe, School Psychologist; Rebecca Bagnall, Guidance Counselor.  Please contact Judy Luise, Advisor Student Peer Mentor Program at 781-639-3100 ext 2115 if you need further information.

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Meeting – November 28th, 6:30pm – MHS Auditorium
There will be a BYOD informational meeting for parents & guardians.  This meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about the MHS Chromebook BYOD initiative.
What if I already have a Chromebook?
Students may use Chromebooks they already own as long as they meet the minimum specifications and are in good operating order.
What if I already have a laptop?
While we strongly recommend Chromebooks due to their all day battery life, ease of operation and fast boot up, students may use laptops they already own as long as they meet the minimum specifications and are in good operating order.  Laptop users will be responsible for printer setup, installation of extensions and other configurations as needed.
Where can I purchase the Chromebook?
A web portal will be set up in the spring for purchasing.  We anticipate the cost will be $300 for a Dell Two-in-One convertible touchscreen Chromebook. Dell provides a one year, mail-in warranty.  The current model is a 3189.  We will review their model offerings in the spring.  The cost includes a Google Management license.
When will my student need their Chromebook?
Students will need to have their Chromebook for the first day of school in September 2018.
