Varsity Letter and Pin Guidelines

Earning a varsity letter and pin is a meaningful recognition of a student-athlete’s commitment, dedication, and contribution to their team and Marblehead Athletics.

Student-athletes are awarded their “M” letter and sport-specific pin after completing their first varsity season and meeting team requirements. Additional pins are awarded for each subsequent varsity season and for participation in multiple varsity sports. Team captains are also recognized with a “Captain” pin.

All letters and pins are distributed at the end-of-season banquets and can be picked up through the athletic office.

As representatives of Marblehead High School, varsity letter recipients are expected to demonstrate strong character both on and off the playing field. This includes upholding the values of sportsmanship, respect, responsibility, and leadership in competition, in school, and within the community.

Earning a varsity letter is not only a reflection of athletic achievement, but also of the pride and responsibility that comes with representing Marblehead Athletics.
