• Lucretia and Joseph Brown School

Joseph was an African American Marbleheader, and a veteran of the Revolutionary War After the war, Joseph and Lucretia, opened up a tavern in town. They lived on Gingerbread Hill from about 1790 through their deaths in 1834 and 1857.

As a staff, we are excited about the possibilities of teaching our students more colonial history, continuing discussions around equity and inclusivity,  and of course, learning about Joe Froggers!  We are working with our school PBIS to develop a mascot, and supportive historical classroom material for the new Brown  School!
