Meet Mary Maxfield

  • Principal Mary MaxfieldDear Families, Happy Summer to all the Brown School families! I trust you have all transitioned to the fun and joy that summer so often brings. My name is Mary Maxfield, and I am incredibly excited to be the new Lucretia and Joseph Brown School principal! I come to Marblehead with a variety of teaching, administrative and learning experiences. In my years in the field of education I have been a para-educator, a tutor, a classroom teacher, a guidance counselor, a consultant and presenter, an Assistant Principal and a principal. My most recent work as principal has been developing academic and social emotional Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for students, building and maintaining positive and thriving school cultures, and all things communication. As the Brown School's new instructional leader, I am looking forward to continuing this work to improve student achievement in a respectful environment. As I begin this work in Marblehead, I am very grateful to have such an outstanding staff to support this team effort. Among the many goals we have for our school and district is to provide consistency and communication to our PK-3 families. Because the PK-3 population is the only group that attends two different schools in Marblehead, Hope Doran, the new Glover principal, and I will be working together closely to bring all PK-3 Marblehead families consistent communication and increased understanding of curriculum, instruction, events and activities. The Marblehead community has certainly made this transition a warm and welcoming experience for me. I look forward to meeting you as we begin our mission in education together. I am thrilled to be part of the Marblehead Education Community, and I look forward to our goal to provide all children with an engaging education in a safe and respectful environment. Wishing you all a happy and healthy summer! Mary
